Today we’re sharing all the details behind the customization of a very special BMW K100. And we say very special because this build was a gift from the client to himself, a personal reward for a lifetime spent on two wheels. With the #BOLT46, we set out to create a bike that was beautiful, tailored to the client’s taste — but above all, smooth as silk.
The client had a very clear idea of the kind of riding sensation he wanted to experience, but less clarity about the visual side. He knew he wanted a black-dominant bike, one with presence, and something that looked very different from the typical BMW K100 customs.
Once the bike arrived at the workshop, our first step was to inspect it, tune it, and strip it down. The engine was completely revised, and both the electrical and electronic systems were fully updated.
At Bolt Motor Company, café racer specialists, we go over every bike with a fine-tooth comb to determine which parts and components can be reused and which should be replaced.
We usually recommend replacing all wear-prone parts, such as the water pump, clutch, or radiator.
WHAT WE DID TO THIS BMW K100 – PART BY PART
The front end was entirely reworked by our team to achieve a much stronger, bolder stance. We installed oversized and upgraded brake discs, Goodridge brake lines, and CNC-milled triple clamps made by Bolt Motor Company. The braking system, front and rear, is brand new and fully enhanced.
This isn’t our first time customizing a BMW K100 — in fact, some of our K100 builds have caught the attention of the global café racer community, thanks to their style and flawless finishes. In this case, we once again embraced fluid, clean lines.
We wanted a bike that felt aggressive, but with refined lines — something that would stand out for its design, yet remain visually subtle. That’s why black dominates the entire build, broken only by a thin red line that subtly enhances the overall style.
We played with contrasts between matte and gloss black finishes, creating a design that’s minimal but deeply considered. The electrical system features Motogadget components, and the seat upholstery was crafted by Tapicerías Llop.
