#BOLT41

It’s not the first time we’ve built two versions of the same bike — but this time, we may have gone a bit overboard.

Before we even start talking about the work behind this machine, one thing needs to be clear: this was a commission for a client in Miami.

And that’s key, because in the U.S., there are no restrictive road regulations like the ones imposed by Spain’s ITV inspection system. In other words, the #BOLT41 would never be road-legal in Spain. Well… it could hit the road, but let’s just say the fine would be “interesting.”

VERSION 1:

The client wanted a bike as tall as possible while staying true to the BMW aesthetic. He also requested a mono posto design with high-mounted exhausts.

Up front, we used the front end from a BMW R65, featuring oversized brake discs, Brembo calipers, Goodridge brake lines, and custom CNC-milled triple clamps designed by Bolt Motor Company.

We chose a scrambler-style handlebar and installed Motogadget electronics throughout. We also upgraded the brake master cylinder for improved control and safety.

The fuel tank comes from a BMW R45, finished in a 7-layer custom paint job that plays with classic BMW color schemes.

In the midsection, we reworked the frame to relocate the bike’s electronic components. The engine was fully rebuilt, fitted with an 800cc performance kit including pistons, cylinders, heads, and modified connecting rods. It also features a 16-map programmable electronic ignition and a lightened flywheel.

At the rear, we crafted a custom mono posto subframe with high-mounted titanium Spark exhausts. The bobber-style seat is made from weatherproof treated leather to withstand the elements.

VERSION 2:

For Version 2, we went full throttle on a radical scrambler look. We installed the complete front end from a Ducati Panigale 1198 — forks, brakes, calipers and all. We also replaced the headlight with a custom 3D-designed unit by our in-house team.

The engine got another performance boost, now upgraded to 1000cc for even more punch. The fuel tank was swapped for a fat version from a BMW R100, giving the bike an even more muscular silhouette.

Which version would you choose?
It all depends on your taste and the kind of scrambler style you’re after. One thing’s for sure: inverted forks always make a statement.
