With this BMW GS80 Paris-Dakar, we’ve done something out of the ordinary. You’re used to seeing bold, aggressive builds from us — but this time, we decided to keep things simple and clean.
That said, while the final result of this BMW GS80 Paris-Dakar may look very classic at first glance, there’s a lot of workshop work behind it. Want to know more about the restoration of this classic bike?
When we talk about restoring this GS80, the first thing that comes to mind is the engine. Nearly everything has been replaced — engine block, crankshaft, connecting rods… We carried out a thorough overhaul to make sure everything runs flawlessly.
The client wanted a classic-looking motorcycle, but with the reliability of a brand-new engine — and we absolutely delivered.
On the electrical side, we upgraded all the electronics and simplified where needed. For example, the client asked for more visibility, so we installed a high-powered long-range lighting kit on both the original lights and additional externals.
One of the typical weak points in restored bikes is the braking system — but not here. At Bolt Motor Company, we solved that with oversized discs and a more powerful caliper. We also improved the suspension, giving it a sportier feel in the front and more comfort in the rear.
And of course, we made sure to respect the Paris-Dakar aesthetic when choosing the paint scheme. The #BOLT39 is a true gem for lovers of classic lines and for the most purist BMW fans.
Even though this bike is far from the usual type of build that leaves our workshop, we’ve all fallen in love with the result.
