Another BMW rolls out of our workshop — and what a BMW!
This time it’s a 1981 BMW R100RS, completely reborn as a scrambler-style machine, ready to devour the road and leave a trail of dropped jaws along the way.
If you’re curious about the customization process behind this BMW R100RS, let’s start with the most striking upgrade:
The front end comes from a Ducati 1198 Panigale.
We chose this setup because we were after something fierce, and for that, there’s nothing quite like a Ducati, especially this model.
The bike features Brembo Monoblock front calipers, TRW brake discs, Goodridge brake lines, Biltwell grips, and a Renthal handlebar.
As usual, the electronics — indicators, speedometer, and rev counter — are all from Motogadget.
To make sure the owner of this R100RS can ride it to the limit, we fully rebuilt the engine and replaced the entire electrical system with upgraded Motogadget components.
Since we swapped out the original swingarm for a monoshock setup, we also replaced the wheels with those from a BMW R80.
The tires are Michelin, and as you’ll see in the photo gallery, the bike is shown with both knobby and slick tires.
This gives the owner the freedom to switch depending on how — and where — they want to ride.
Getting results like this takes time.
Often, our mechanics don’t just assemble — they design, fabricate, and adapt custom components.
In this case, the subframe, battery box, and wheel axles all spent many hours in the hands of our team, crafted until every detail was just right.
While the mechanical work is the most time-consuming, it’s the aesthetics that steal the spotlight.
We focused on highlighting the natural shine of the metal fuel tank, giving it a bold, raw presence.
The black leather seat was the perfect choice to bring out the scrambler soul we were aiming for.
