Looking at how our Garage page is coming together, it’s clear we’re starting to enjoy working with BMWs more and more. This time, it’s the turn of a 1979 BMW R45, built with a clear purpose: to embrace a pure café racer aesthetic.

As we always say with this type of project, the secret to success is knowing which parts to keep, which to replace, and which to restore.
For the #BOLT31, we decided to keep the original BMW front end, along with original front brakes, Goodridge brake lines, and a set of EMGO clip-ons.

The speedo, tachometer, and rev counter are by KOSO, and we’ve fitted Motogadget indicators.
For the headlight, we chose a classic café racer-style unit, because let’s face it — nothing fits the look better.
The electrical system remains BMW, the tires are Shinko, and the wheels are original.

Even the paintwork on this BMW R45 was designed to simulate the original factory finish.
Staying true to the theme, we upholstered the seat in brown suede and hand-shaped the custom exhaust to match the lines and vibe we were going for.

Underneath the style, there’s substance:
We fully rebuilt the engine and increased displacement to 866cc — so the ride now lives up to the looks.
And really — who wouldn’t want to take a bike like this out on the road?

We could keep talking about how much we love the #BOLT31, but we’d rather let the photos do the talking.

And if you’ve finally decided it’s time to have your own custom motorcycle in the garage, at Bolt Motor Company, we’d be happy to help make that happen.

We’re a café racer workshop based in Alzira (Valencia, Spain) — but we work on builds for clients all over the country, and even internationally.
So what are you waiting for? For more information, feel free to reach out anytime.
