BMW R100RT //
#BOLT30

With this stunning BMW R100RT, we celebrate a milestone: 30 custom motorcycles have now rolled out of the Bolt Motor Company garage. We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done since day one — and especially proud of the result of the #BOLT30.
This project came with something special: a genuine connection with the bike’s owner, which made the entire process smoother and more inspiring. Our goal was clear — to build a Boxer Classic unlike anything we’d done before, and doing that with a base as common in the custom world as the R100RT was no small feat. But let’s take it step by step.
Reinventing the Rear End
One of the most demanding tasks on this build was completely reconstructing the rear section. The real challenge? Adapting a swingarm, shaft drive, and final drive unit from a modern BMW R1200 in order to mount a central monoshock.
And believe us — fitting a modern driveshaft to a classic output shaft is no easy job. That’s why you don’t see many classic BMW boxers running a monoshock setup.
Suspension, Wheels & Brakes
For the front suspension, we wanted maximum impact. The perfect combo? 58mm MV Agusta forks, with a Brutale top triple clamp and a triple clamp from the MV Agusta F4.
The brake system is fully upgraded, with oversized discs front and rear, paired with custom Goodridge lines. For wheels, we used rear wheels from a BMW R1200GS on both axles, paired with custom spoke patterns and oversized tires: 130 front and 160 rear. The LED headlight mount, crafted in aluminum, was designed to flow seamlessly with the bike’s silhouette.
Formula-Grade Electronics
Another highlight of this custom R100RT is the electrical system. We wired the bike using the same spec cables, connectors, and terminals used by Formula 2 racing teams — the proving ground for F1.
We also installed a next-gen ignition system, complete with a modern ECU and voltage regulator.
Engine Rebuild & One-Piece Exhaust
Mechanically, we fully disassembled and rebuilt the engine. That means the owner of the #BOLT30 rides a bike that’s essentially brand new, updated down to the smallest bolt. We also engineered a one-piece exhaust — no welds between the headers and the silencer.
Crystal Finish
The paintwork was one of the most demanding parts of this project. We were chasing a glass-like finish — something we achieved thanks to special high-temp, scratch-resistant paints and lacquers, oven-cured to perfection. The result? Absolutely stunning.
