They say there’s a first time for everything — and this is the very first Kawasaki to roll out of the Bolt Motor Company workshop.
And judging by the result, it definitely won’t be the last.
This project is built on a 1982 Kawasaki KZ550 — a true classic that was begging for an old school revival.
From the moment this bike entered the shop, we were excited for two reasons:
First, we’d been itching to get a Kawasaki on the lift.
Second, we absolutely loved the vision the owner had in mind:
He wanted a bike that would take him straight back to the golden age of Japanese café racers in the ’70s — and that’s exactly where we went.
This custom build features a small front headlight, black megaphone exhausts, clip-on handlebars, analogue tachometer, retro tires, and a blacked-out engine…
But without a doubt, the most eye-catching detail of this Kawasaki KZ550 is its color.
We went with a special green paint, paired with 70s-style Kawasaki lettering, creating an unmistakable vintage vibe.
Special mention also goes to the short subframe and the period-correct upholstery — subtle touches that take the whole aesthetic to the next level.
Every project that leaves our garage earns a spot in our hearts.
But this one? This one’s extra special — for its originality, and because it’s so different from what we usually build.
